Xperia E1 Dual Sim does not start up

I am unable to start up as it it does progess past the wavey lines sceen on start up.

Nor can I switch it off unless I remove the battery 

It stopped working within 5 months of purchase.

I cannot reinstall the software as it is not recognized

Not can I start in safe mode by pressing the volume + on key

Have you unlocked the bootloader? and/or flashed any custom ROM?

Try a hard reset.... remove the battery, remove the memory card, and turn on phone..... If it still doesn't work, did you try the safe mode? (You have to hold the volume button for a long time until it says you are in safe mode. If still it does not work, contact sony service center before your warranty ends up.. wishes!!!

Nope, this was an unlocked phone 

Nor has it been flashed , have not run EMMA yet

First UK as I am there but they say they cannot help as phone is bought in India

does using EMMA on an unlocked device invalidate it's warranty ?

Yes as you will have to unlock your bootloader
