Xperia E - message alert is only vibrate

I have a rintone set for incoming text messages but I only get vibrate.

The ringtone has worked previously and I've tried selcvting a different tone but still no joy/

Any ideas?

Did you also try in safe mode?

Does the ordinary ringtone for incoming calls work or do you just get vibrations also? 

Remove the battery for a while and put it back in and try to see if you still only get vibrations.
