Hi,
My Arc (absolutely fantastic phone up until this point!) appears to have developed a fault, whereby no-one can hear me. Not the greatest fault for a phone to develop!!
The phone itself has not been dropped or phyiscally damaged in any way.
Basically, when I call people, or they call me, I can hear my own voice echoing through the phone and out of its own earpiece, but the other party cannot hear a word I say. If I mute the phone, then the general background hiss at the other end stops. I've also tried setting the phone to speaker, but people still cannot hear me.
I have tried doing a settings reset, and then reluctantly, a full factory reset on the phone, but I still have the same problem.
If I use the speech recognition for navigation, I can see the mic levels moving up and down when I talk, but the phone never registers that I've spoken, and just remains on the speech input screen.
At first I thought it would be a software fault, so have tried fully removed the battery, and its only since I've done the full factory reset that I've grasped the seriousness of the fault.
Now, I have no insurance on this phone with my carrier, but assume that I can get this swapped under warranty if I take it a service centre and they deem it to be a technical fault with the phone? Before I get to this stage, is there any other troubleshooting steps that I could perform? It says that there are two MIC's on this phone, can I try and invoke the other MIC instead or is that simply for echo cancellation... could something have gone wrong with this feature? Can i test it by disabling it in any way?
Thanks in advance!
how come you don't want to repair your phone with the Update Service?
don't be afraid of losing anything just do the following
install Backup & Restore App (to back up your contacts, call log, apps, mms, sms, bookmarks, etc)
or
if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then
or your SMS use
backup & restore SMS
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&feature=search_result
and for your MMS use Save MMS
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.schwimmer.android.mmsextract&feature=search_result
just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already
one last thing
Don't worry so much about backing up your apps
on your computer go to
market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone
Hi uliwully,
thanks for your response.
I neglected to mention that I am unable to do repair as the system becomes completely unresponsive when it attempts to install the SEMC drivers.. I've found some information online regarding fixing this issue, (I use Kaspersky, so assume this is at fault) and will follow that later today... I'll let you know how it goes.
I had already done a full factory reset, so I had to back up my msgs, contacts, apps etc, anyway.
Thanks
ok let me know, you can also try to reboot on safe mode then run Update Service
hi unhappy customer!
Any update on your SE ARC's mic problem. I have exactly the same problem now. I'm using the headset whenever I make and receive calls. I will take this 2 week old phone to a service center the next day.
Hope to hear any updates from you. Thanks
I think if you still face problems with your mic, since your phone is still under warranty, it would be a good idea to bring it to a SE service centre or where you bought it from for them to diagnose the problem.
Open the Dialer and press this *#*#7378423#*#*
and then select service setings
there u can check dift softwares and hardwares by urself..
just try it..
My phone has same issue. Callers say I sound muffled. Two things now wrong with my new Arc. Not happy.
