Xperia active screen flickering issue

Hi. I bought my Xperia active last Monday. It is the Billabong edition, since it is the only available in the Philippines.

But last Sunday, I noticed that the screen flickers. I usually use the phone with the brightness setting set to the lowest and that makes the screen flickering more visible. It is somehow annoying but I don't know what to do.

And also I am kinda new in using Android phones and Sony Ericsson phones, so I am no expert in manipulating this device. And I hope that this flickering issue would be resolved before the school starts.

Any news so far after you repair? i mean did you try to cover the ALS did it flicker again,it bothers me as well. by way the ICS updated. auto brightness is not showing anymore so no option to disable.

i just bought xperia active and i update to my phone 4.0.4 latest..but i have screen flickering problem and i dont know what i am gonna do?

Screen flickering problem ?

That is due to ambient light sensor. It automatically adjusts the screen's brightness

Perhaps if you elaborate the problem i could look into it to identify whether it's a problem or a normal thing

here the same problem: screen flickering.

I've noticed  this problem in some light conditions, is not always noticeable. Is there any know solution? I've tried an update to android 4.0.4 and last firmware and a phone reset, but no one was effective.

It happens when the surrounding light intensity is right in the middle of two screen brightness levels, so the phone doesn't know which screen brightness to keep, causing it to constantly switch between two screen brightness levels.
