Xperia active screen flickering issue

Xperia active screen flickering issue

Hi. I bought my Xperia active last Monday. It is the Billabong edition, since it is the only available in the Philippines.

But last Sunday, I noticed that the screen flickers. I usually use the phone with the brightness setting set to the lowest and that makes the screen flickering more visible. It is somehow annoying but I don't know what to do.

And also I am kinda new in using Android phones and Sony Ericsson phones, so I am no expert in manipulating this device. And I hope that this flickering issue would be resolved before the school starts. Slightly_frowning_Face

Its due to ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen brightness Slightly_smiling_Face

I don't think it's just the ambient light sensor. Because even if I am in a stable light it still flickers.

is anything covering it maybe a finger or a protective case or an extra screen protector?

I think there is a screen protector but it is included when I bought the product and it seems like it is hard to remove.

Do one thing, first increase the brightness to full.. and see if it flickers..

Then decrease the brightnes to lowets possible value.. see if it does

then dial *#*#7378423#*#* in dialer > service teste > ambient light sensor..

cover the ambient light sensor , and its value must decrease to 0... keep it covered and see if it remains 0 only or not

I tried those things and this are the results.

1. when I increased the brightness to full, the flickering issue didn't got away but it isn't as disturbing as before. But I wouldn't recommend this due to the fact that this solution drains the battery faster.

2. when I decreased the brightness to the lowest possible value, the flickering issue is really disturbing.

3. when I tested the phone using the service tests > ambient light sensor. when I covered the light sensor the value is 0 and it remained 0 until I removed my hand where the value increased.

What do you think I should do?

A software repair... although it seems to be fine

And after waiting for almost 4 hours for a software repair. The flickering issue thing has disappeared, but still don't know if it will occur again tomorrow.

And by the way, there is a new issue after the software repair. The phone is restarting automatically without even me touching it. What do you think happened. Slightly_frowning_Face
