X10 Mini Wont connect Wi-Fi to home network

Greetings all!

I still have to wait for full-functionality on my X10 when the service provider gets updated to a new contract in a few weeks.

However, I cant get it to connect to my home wi-fi network.

It recognises the network and remembers it. The Network Key is good. Ive tried both with and without 'data traffic enabled', and of course the phones Wi-Fi is turned on- Ive tried that both through the main screen and through the Wi-Fi Settings screen.

Any ideas why its not working? I got a shock bill last week because the phone was using dial-up connection instead of Wi-Fi without me realising it!

Also, how can I ensure it chooses unsecured or 'FreeZones' when on the move over dial-up? I want to be able to use the Navigation function, but worry about the phone being connected too much, even with the internet bundle I am suscribing to.

Thanks!

Does it connect to any other Wi-Fi networks, apart from your home router?

Is the Allow local conn. setting (under Internet settings) switched on?

There is an unsecured network in the neighbourhood, but the phone wont connect to that either.

I cant find 'Allow Local Connection'- where in the phones 'Settings' tree is that?

If it's on your phone, it will be under Connectivity-Internet settings-Allow local conn.

Sorry, DrChris, but there is no 'Connectivity' sub-tree on the X10 Mini- neither under the 'Wireless controls' or any other 'Settings' sub-tree I can find...

It might be under Advanced in the options of your web browser.

So, are you saying that when your Data traffic is unchecked, that your phone still uses the service provider internet?  This option is under Mobile Networking and won't affect WiFi.  After you have set up the WiFi, does the phone say that it is Connected?

Sorry Martha, I'm confusing two issues- I know the 'Data Traffic' function is for dial-up access- hence the on-screen warning that data services may incur usage costs... yup.

When Wi-Fi is switched on, it has located my home network, Ive input the Network Key, Ive selected the home network and pressed 'connect'- it says 'obtaining IP address from XXXXX' and after a minute comes up 'Wi-Fi unsuccessful' at the top of the Wi-Fi Settings screen.

Why isnt it able to communicate with my network?

I've got the same problem as Japachap with my x10 mini pro.

Worked fine up to last weekend now it doesn't connect and all the info I get is " connecting" or "disconnecting" Thinking_Face

Have now checked with local open networks and works fine ???? Checked SSID & Passcode are correct ,nothing in the routersetup to block phone , even tried assigning static ip to phone without sucess.

I did have a wifi analyser app installed but that was the first thing I removed when the problem appeared

Not a major problem but an royal pain in the bum !

Ok, Im one level further down the rabbithole...

Settings- Wireless Controls- Wi-Fi Settings- Advanced (using left handset menu key)- Use Static IP (turn on)

Checking the 'Use Static IP' allows access to 'IP Address, Gateway, Netmask, DNS1, DNS2' settings.

These I have found on my home computers Wi-Fi control panel and input into the phone (Wireless Network Connection Status- Support- Details)

Hey presto- phone connects to home network!

Next problem- none of the internet-based apps will work, even when the Wi-Fi is connected (makes no difference if 'Enable Data Traffic' is on or off). Thats Browser, Maps and Wisepilot- I havent tried the rest...

Help?!
