hi,
i am facing a small issue with the Email app on my Z3.
i am able to setup my email account and even send with the email.
but people get the wrong adress displayed to reply to.
we have a mail server setup with different domain extentions. .net, .com,.org.
so our login is just our domain name I.E : username@domain instead of the standard username@domain.com
this was done specifically to show that you login for all those domains. thats internal setup.
so when i setup my mailaccount i specify the username@domain wich is my login.
i get all my emails, i am able to send emails
but it says its comming from Username@Domain.
whereas the account name is Username@domain.com it keeps insisting the email adress linked to this account is username@domain.
is there a workaround for this situation?
this is my professional email. i cannot reply from my phone cause replies from clients on my reply would never arrive to me.
i tried looking in all the settings but i cannot find anywhere how to specify the email adres that i used.
thanks for any assistance
I have no idea how to rectify this but I do have an idea for you
You have two options - Option one, every time you write an email then type in reply to this address and not the one listed in this email however should you forget to do this then you can edit your email signature by opening the email app then tap the 3 dots and open settings then tap on your account then open Signature and edit the info in the box and when done make sure it is turned on - This way if you do forget then not to worry as it will always be included
This may be related to how the account was entered in the phone. If you have a different username than password you need to enter your email address (the "reply to" address) and password in the first step when adding the account but then you need to select "Manual setup" instead of "Next" and enter the settings manually.
Try deleting the account from the phone and then add it again in this way and see if it helps.
thank you for your answer.
I have tried your suggested process, unfortunately it didn´t work, I still have the same problem, it keep using my user name as reply adress.
I had another android phone before this, and my mail with the same setup was working fine, I have tried Aquamail, a free app and here i am able to use the same account and it is working...
I would like to use the preinstalled Email program, please come up with a working solution.
Have you been in contact with your email provider or IT department regarding this? If you entered the correct email address in the first step this sounds more like a setting in your account on the server. Using another email client that lets you manually specify a reply to address will probably help in that case though.
come on it is working on my 2 year old Motorola with the exact same settings, it is working on a free app for my Sony Z3, but it isnt working with your preinstalled email program, and your suggested solution is to make a change with my email provider? It is clearly a bug in your software and not and external problem.
The problem is that your email program is using my lockin name as a reply adress, as mentioned above i am using the settings as in MS Outlook, on my old phone, on my old iphone and on a free mail app, it is working there but NOT on your email program...
please come up with a solution for your software?
I've tested this here with 3 different providers and POP, IMAP and EAS but i'm unable to replicate this issue. Even when the username is not the emailaddress the reply to address is correct.
What type of account and server are you using? Are you sure that the default reply to address in your account is set correctly? Many email providers allows you to set a default reply to address on the server in the account.
Hi,
I have the same issue with my email address configuration.
The username (for login on IMAP Server) is different then the email address.
If I write an email from this account the reply-to-address is always set to the login username.
I change the account name to the email address that should be the reply-to-address.
Also I changed the property 'Your name' in the common preferences to the email address that should be the reply-to-address.
Also I have tried your suggested process (delete and manuell configure the account), unfortunately it didn't work.
The same email address configuration are working on my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.
Please fix this bug. May be add the property 'reply-to-address' in the common preferences of the account.
best regards

The email client in your other phone probably has the option to override the reply to address set in your account. I'm afraid our client doesn't have any option for that. For this to work with our client, your email account needs to be configured properly.
What you can do is to download another email client from Google Play that lets you manually set a reply to address. I think K9 Mail has an option for this.
Hi Richard,
the problem is the email client on the z3 compact (that come native without install anything) use the login credential as sending email address.
It means I can retrieve emails but if I send an email and the receiver will reply to me
the receiver reply to the wrong address in my case an address that does not exists.
I send an email to myself and looked at the header. The from tag is filled with my login name and not with the email address. Therefore the receiver can only reply to my login name that is not a valid email address.
That is definitely a bug.
I don't want to install any other third party software that handles my emails.
There is no option to change the configuration of the email login.
Now I tried gmail and it works fine.
Is there any portal where I can submit a bug ticket or feature request for your email client?
I think I am not the only user who will face this problem.
Please have a look on the following link where sony present the email client
