Motorola annoujced that anyone with 2011 Moto device if they don't get JB upgrade then they will get $100 credit to buy their new MOTO phone. Will SONY Ever offer such thing? Look at this news which ois a shift from usual trend of keeping updates a classified information thus far:
Market trends are changing and SONY ought to quickly align with trends rather than bask in past glory.
Someone responsible should now start delcaring about JB upgrades rather than repeating the same old story.
doubt it, just think about the 2010 fiasco when Sony said that they cant update their phones due to hardware limitations, the 2011 Xperia Play fiasco, the ICS 2011 update fiasco, the no JB for 2011 Xperias mistake fiasco, etc.

All players are trying to hold on to their client base and also get new ones and this announcement from Moto is one such brave move. Sony seems indifferent to existence of such factors so as i said still basking in glory of yesteryears like RIM. Look where RIM has reached. Sony also looks headed on same path for the mobile phone segment at lest from what i can see. It's the customers that drive the company up or down.
I guess Motorola can do that since it has Goog's money
but something like this should be done by networks as well, for example O2 announced that wont release ICS for the 2011 Xperia, they either O2 and/or Sony should give this $100+ towards a new Xperia.

Yes someone has to pay for failing to deliver and Moto has set a precedent. So lets see if this wakes up the thinktank at Sony wrt S/W updates. I have my own doubts though
