Will adding a Micro SD card use more battery power?

Hi all,

I'm reasonably happy with my Z1 compact at the moment, and usually manage to get at least 2 days battery usage out of it.

I want to add a 32GB Micro SD card to boost the storage. 16GB is a lot but not as much as my previous model, the Xperia S with 32GB.

My question is, will adding a Micro SD card consume more battery power? Or will it only use power when the card is being accessed? I am aware that KitKat means that apps cannot write/make changes to the SD card, so in theory, it should only be used when I am playing music or viewing photos/films.

I wouldn't want to add to the storage if it is going to give any noticeable drain on the battery. Any advice?

Thanks

I've got a 32GB card in my Z1 and haven't seen or noticed any difference in power use

Thanks very much for the fast feedback.

Although they have made KitKat so that apps cannot write to the external SD card, does this mean no system data will be written to the card and they will still use the internal 16GB storage? Hoping so as I don't want all the system "junk" on my SD card should I get one, just my music and videos.

You may get a hidden folder to do with your unique Google adds code the one that says something like .SlcyJMAh etc etc - I also have a few more folders called Adroid, data and LOST.DIR but I think these are standard to allow the read and write function
