I am facing some problem in wifi...After connected i am able to browse for some tym then it gets stuck n again after few secs it works... i don't knw what the problem but the connection isn't consistant....
In my account, everything about wi-fi being ok with the gingerbread, then losing it all with 4.0.3 and getting it all back after 4.0.4 with no problem does prove something.
Thanks for the information - have you already tested it with your home router? If yes, it would mean that something has improved. Unfortunatelly, not for me.
I did try the repair option with PC Companion, and also resetting factory settings from the phone menu (which is I thing pretty much the same thing).
I also noticed, that after upgrade to 4.0.4, my green notification LED is not working correctly when I have a new e-mail or SMS message. (although it works OK with the missed call) After some time, the notification stated working (I don't know, if I changed something in configuration, or maybe installed some application that actually "fixed this). But right now, after repairing with PC Companion, the LED is not working again.
I have seen someone had similar problem on 4.0.3, but the opposite: the LED was working OK for messages, but not for missed calls.
Does anyone else experience such problems?
Notifications, missed calls not working on Neo V 4.03. Email (sotck) and SMS(Handcent) works fine.
So it is exact opposite to what is happening on my 4.0.4 - notifications for missed calls are OK, and for e-mails and SMS the notification LED is not blinking. I remember that in 4.0.3 notification for SMS and e-mails was working. I am not sure about missed calls, since I did not have any while I was testing 4.0.3.
BTW about the LED notifications, see the following thread:

Upgraded to 4.0.4 on my Ray, still have the same Wifi problems as before. Still get the authentication problems...
I upgraded Xperia Ray to 4.0.4.
I can confirm that the wifi bug is still there. The 3d refresh problem instead is fixed (i.e. with Sygic navigation)
I noticed a strange behaviour in the preinstalled apps, like uefa championship app, wisepilot, whatsapp, macafee etc... I had to remove them twice: I unistalled them and after a restart of the device the system installed them again. Why that?
And why I cannot uninstall the Whatsapp software? In the 4.0.3 version i could uninstall all additional software, this time the whatsapp application is installed in the internal memory as system app, so i cannot unistall it. Anyone is experiencing this strange behaviour? I hate to keep Whatsapp installed
Hello,
I have had Wifi problems with my Sony Xperia Ray running ICS. The problem may not be exactly the same as others are having here, but I did find a solution so maybe my post will be of use to some of you.
My Xperia actually did always manage to connect to the Wifi. However, after less than 5 minutes of usage, the internet would get slow and eventually stop working altogether. What's more, the router would stop working and no devices (laptops included) could get access to the internet via my router. Only rebooting the router would solve the problem.
My router model is a Huawei hg556a which I received from my ISP, Vodafone here in Ireland. It seems Vodafone distribute this router in other countries too.
I found the solution at the following link: http://www.gsmspain.com/foros/h998410_Marcas-SonyEricsson_Solucion-problema-WIFI-Xperia-Neo-router-V... It's in Spanish, but the steps are as follows:
1. Disable WSC on the router (this was enabled by default on my router).
2. Change the encryption method to TKIP and use WPA or WPA2 (it was AES on my router, but it was already using WPA).
3. Reboot the router to make sure the new parameters are picked-up.
You can do this on the hg556a as an advanced user by selecting Wifi on the left and then Security.
Best of luck,
Hiram.
well all i can say is that i made a mistake by buying a Sony neo V phone. i could have easily gone with Samsung but i bought Sony due to good design phone range....its been more then a month but still i cant access wifi on my phone, which worked well on 2.3.4 when i connected to my laptop's access station, created using connectify and running on wpa2-psk security.
Ive tred the following things so far after upgrading to ICS:
1) After Upgrading to 4.0.3 when the wifi dint worked, i repaired my phone, erased sd card contents and even re-installed the 4.0.3 update, but nothing helped.
2) Then a ray of hope came accross me in the form of 4.0.4. But this update proved to be sprinkling salt on my wounds. The wifi still dont worked, have tried everything like repairing, factory reset, sd-card format, but still it doesnt work. and moreover now thier are issues with led-notifications!!!
Wat the heck is wrong with SONY!!! do they want to loose their customers, which by the way are still out-numbered when compared to Samsung,Nokia,Apple.
Well ive had a lot. In India we have these Consumer Forums set up under the Judiciary by Govt of India. Ive written to sony as well to rectify my problem in next 7 days or else i want my money back plus i want compensation for the problems incured.
So Finally i got a reply from Sony-India. Those guys are asking me to Downgrade to GB 2.3.4 as they also dont knw when and how this issue will be resolved!!!
way to go sony!! keep serving us the half-baked cakes, and i promise we will keep on leaving u!
I still think xperia ray with 4.0.4 is a great phone instead. Google solved a lot of problem in the hardware acceleration features.
The only exception is the wifi bug, that is giving me some headache... for the rest the xperia ray is a wonderful piece of hardware in a so stilish case.
It's really a pity that the wifi bug ruin the global judgement of this machine!
