I am facing some problem in wifi...After connected i am able to browse for some tym then it gets stuck n again after few secs it works... i don't knw what the problem but the connection isn't consistant....
i agree with u, my neo v is an excellent machine, but there are several bugs in the update that are not from google's side but from Sony's side and the irony is that Sony does not seems to be that interested in solving these bugs for the 2011 range!!
Also wifi bug is not a lil bug!! a smartphone is actually a dumbphone without internet connectivity!!
It amusses me that how can such a big firm like Sony can release an update without prior testing!
How about providing some logs, would that help?
I found this app:
and the logs do show some WIFI and wpa_supplicant related messages.
However I couldn't connect to the network today at all, I'm suspecting due to other
issues rather than phone bug, since signal strength was full.
Will retest soon and provide logs.
Still waiting for this problem to be fixed
Lads, I accept I hopped on early to announce that my problems are fixed with the 4.0.4
Yes, with 3 of the 5 routers I've tried to connect, my Xperia Neo V works like a charm with the wi-fi. But when I got back home from family holiday, I've tried my own router at home -the one I encountered with the problem for the first time- and the result is...big boomer. 4.0.4 changed nothing for my natural environment. And it still makes my phone useless by all means, since I don't have any large data plan.
It's still a big disappointment. I'm sorry to give you all false hopes earlier.
But, anyway, I was waiting to get back home to write my verdict. I now confirm that 4.0.4 is not the fix for the wi-fi pain.
So, what about gathering our thoughts and comments in one place and spreading a unibody announcement to the internet media, being us, the suffered Sony customers?
i had shown my phone to a network analyst in my office, he checked the logs of the wifi and some other geeky stuff he did on my phone, and ultimately he came to the conclusion that their is a problem with the DHCP protocol when connected with WPA2-PSK secured key, the problem is very lil with WPA and not all with the WEP keys.
The DHCP protocol is responsible to assign IP address to the machine and checks the network availability in regular intervals.
Thankfully some hit and trial methods seems to have resolved my problem!! I am sharing the tweaks here with you.
First of all let me tell you what i am using:
*Sony Erricson Neo V 4.0.4
*Virtual Access Point using Connectify, secured with WPA2-PSK key.
Troubleshooting Steps:
* Suppose the Network's Access Point name is A
* Forget the Network A from your mobile.
* Restart the network/router
* Connect to A, in my case the phone connects to the network without any problem for the first time and then auto-disconnects in 5 mins.
* After auto disconnect go to modify network, select Static IP instead of DHCP and fill all the fields manually.
* Connect to A
* Dissconnect A and again modify the network.
* Modify the network and select DHCP again.
Thats it!! for me these steps have worked and now i seemlessly connect to my network without any authentication problem
However its still an abnormal way to connect to the network. Engineers at Sony must resolve this issue permanantly ASAP.
Also, Please reply with ur results after this troubleshoot!

I've updated to 4.0.4 from 2.3 and now it works on my wrt350n, works on my mother in law wrt54gl
but didn't work on my office (I don't know the router model here).
Here the problem is that it didn't recognise the network. I have a network named Error 404 and it didn't find the rigth network.
When I try to connect to the Error 404 network it fail and the right network appear in the phone, but if I try to connect to it, the network disapear aggain.
Anyone here had the same problem?
