Wifi keeps dropping

Hi!

I have a little problem regarding wifi connectivity with my xperia z3 compact. Just yesterday I received a brand new model because my previous one (the same phone) was cracked after a nasty fall. The wifi signal in my room isn't the best, but I've always had a stable connection with my previous model and never once did it drop, it basically worked just fine. My other devices also get normal reception.

With my new model I can't help but notice that it can't hold the signal unless I move to another room and even then it's a bit shaky. I'm running on 4G now but you can imagine that can prove to be costly after a while. Most of my family members have Xperia phones and they, while their rooms are farther away, have a stable connection. It works fine when I'm in the same room as the router.

For a moment I thought I could maybe fix it and I tried the following:

- Turned the router on and off again and called the provider to see if anything was wrong

- Relocated the router

- Turned wifi off, then the phone, waited for 5 seconds then turned it on again

- Checked if stamina mode was off

- Factory reset

- Repair using Sony Bridge for Mac

- Updated to the latest firmware

I just find it a bit strange that I never had this issue with my previous model and I just wonder if something might be faulty or if this is normal. Is there anything I could try? I never had the problem before so I'd really like your thoughts on it!

Thanks!

@uliwooly
I was at my friend's house yesterday and I had the same issue, yeah.

@Phy

I already tried the solutions mentioned in there. Thanks, though!

Try Contacting Sony Xperia Support.

Thanks.

I contacted them and they agreed that I could send the phone back to them. If all goes well, they'll send me a new one and I'll check to see if the problem still persists. After I tested my connection with the new device I'll report back.

A small update:

I received my phone back a few days ago. It worked fine, for a moment I thought everything was fixed. When I turned it on it immediately saw 10 networks, including my own with full reception.

However, when it shut down because the battery went dead and I turned it on again, the same issue occurred. It only saw 2 networks, including mine, with barely any reception. According to the receipt they repaired it and replaced a compartment, so they did see a technical difficulty. Apparently that wasn't enough so I'm going to see if I can get a new one (again).
