wifi authentication problem since unlocking

I have happily had my Xperia Z around 18 months and plan to change network so used Sony's own unlocking process. SINCE then my phone reports wifi authentication problem and although connects momentarily, the fault returns. The same router and phone worked without problem on wifi prior to unlocking this afternoon so appears to be bug in new software. I note many other models have similar problem on support site but since in my case both phone and router previously worked fine I am asking Sony to explain how to fix this ongoing problem for so many people including myself.

Thank-you for your response but the existing router works well with at least 4 other computers and phones at my address and worked perfectly well before so I don't plan to go down the route (excuse the pun) of spending money to replace a serviceable one that replaced a cheaper model a couple of years ago.
