Hi, my Xperia Mini Pro (SK17a, Black) often disconnects from the WiFi and when it does, it usually doesn't auto-reconnect and reassosicate. When I go to the WiFi Settings, THEN it auto-reconnects. But either way, it's always disconnecting, other devices (such as laptop, other phone) never disconnect. So therefore, it's not the routers problem. Also, when it does disconnects and doesn't reconnect after going to the WiFi Settings, it displays the ESSID, signal, etc. but doesn't connect. I spam connect and it still doesn't work. Sometimes, when I turn off, then back on, the WiFi reconnects apon turning on, but often, the routers there, it's just the phone is not connecting.
The phone is a month or so old and I've been getting these fail connections 3 weeks ago.
Hope this is enough information on.
I believe you are not alone in having wi fi problems.
It sure must be frustrating.
Some things people have tried the following :
1) Perform a settings reset on the phone
2) Perform a software/firmware repair using PC Companion
3) Perform a software/firmware update
4) Assign a static IP address to the phone
5) Use a lower/weak strength encryption protocol like WEP
6) Power cycled the wifi router.
7) Use some app from the Android Market to force the phone to maintain its connection
In some cases, it worked, in others it did not
What software version are you running on you phone? What router model is it?
I just bought the phone and have the same problem. The WiFi is very weak. I am 6 ft from the router and get one bar sysmbol, and the the phone dropping the connection and rescanning.
I am going to return the phone.
Should I ask for a refund, or ask for a replacement.
I really like the phone, but this problem is a deal breaker. If I get a replacement, will the repacement ber better, or is this a design issue?
I fixed my problem. Actually I found the answer in another post on the site. It looks like my router way to blame, or at least my router in combination with the phone, since I never had an issue with other devices. Anyway, I upgraded the firmware in my Lynksys WRT45G router to the latest version (8.2 I think) and everything works now. Looks like the phone is a keeper, I really like it.
Im running android 2.3.3. and the router is not mine and icannot get the model, etc. Also, the wifi is open, therefore no encryption. Well, the aignal is pretty bad as in two bars out of four on the wifi meter...
