Why should i buy a Sony Xperia Z smartphone or any other Brands ? Pros & Cons..

Guys,

Help me to get to a realistic view and understanding on why one should buy / or recommend others to buy Sony Xperia Z Smartphones, over and above all the other Smartphones Brand available in the Market !!

Being an owner of Xperia Z (C6602) myself, i have been until recently recommending to all my friends and collegues to go for the Xperia Z.

Wow.. No response from any of you...........

That shows none of you are interested to recommend others to buy a Sony Xperia Z device.

Hey man,

So I was away for a few weeks, I'm not a forum mod, nor do I work for Sony, but let me just tell you, the Xperia Z is an amazing phone.

Just as Alexdon said above, you can find hundreds of posts on the forums that will enlighten you on why the Xperia Z is a good phone.

I will try to address all your concerns from my own point of view, so keep in mind that I might be a little subjective.

Pricing & Specification of the Handset.

  •          Price Factor - does no longer play a major role, since the phone is almost 1.5 years old (in most countries). In my country I payed 575 euros for it, brand new, rooted and locked on my provider. Now, it's about 300 euros, same specs.
  •          Features and specifications of the phone - this might be an issue. Again, bear in mind that it's 1.5 years old. The specs aren't quite outdated, but they're no longer the best on the market (see Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z2). About the water resistant specification, it's LIMITED. It is only water resistant, and NOT waterproof. And that resistance has limitations. In the end, it's still a phone, not a sponge.

Software

  •          Upto Date Software solution - All Sony apps are up to date, and they actually are pretty impressive.
  •          Timely OS Upgrades - Sony usually updates to the next Android in a few months. However, it depends on the country you live in when you'll actually get the update. I still haven't gotten my 4.4 update. Slightly_smiling_Face
  •          OTP upgrade - I don't know what this is.
  •          Bugs & Issues - I've only had a few problems in the past year or so since I've bought it. Nothing a soft reset and a software update couldn't fix.

Hardware

  •          Looks & Body - amazing. In my humble opinion it is currently the 2nd best looing phone on the market (after Z2)
  •          Display - One of the best. People might argue that view angles are low, but I want my phone's display to be rather private. One problem you might have is the glass display. Sun reflects off it. But with Brightness set to 100% you won't even realize it.
  •          RAM - more than enough for a smartphone, unless you use it for developing apps.
  •          Camera - I'm more than happy with it. Took about 6000 pictures so far, only had a few problems in dim light, but then again, what camera from a phone doesn't have that problem.
  •          Speakers - just ONE speaker. However, if you don't cover it with your finger, it's rather good. Not as good as Z1 or Z2 though.
  •          WiFi / Bluetooth - rarely drops WI-Fi, mostly due to my router. Bluetooth works fine. I've been using Bluetooth for NFC and Mirroring, and it works great.
  •          Battery Life - I'm actually quite happy with my battery time. With full usage it lasts arund 12-16 hours. Which means I can use it fully throughout the day without being worried that I'll run out of battery. + there is STAMINA mode and Low Battery Mode which massively increase your battery life when phone screen is off. (while only giving a moderate boost of battery when screen is on).

Customer Support Addressal - these all depend on the country you live in. Slightly_smiling_Face I've never had an issue with the phone that couldn't be resolved through a soft reset, factory reset or on these Support Forums.

I have the Xperia Z (C6603)

P.S.: To the guy saying Xperia Z is the worst because it's not waterproof - SONY never advertised it to be waterproof. Only water resistant.

I hope this helped,

Best regards,

H.

If you are financially able to buy the Z1 out Z2, I think it's a better choice compared to the Z because the side bezel is made of aluminum compared to plastic on the Z and the Z1 and Z2 has no flaps on the headphone jack which, imho, is very annoying and it gets worn out very fast making the phone no longer water resistant depending on how many times you use it. But overall it's a great phone except Sony updates tends to be buggy and cause problems most of the time but they eventually fix it.

The main point for me is that, i love sony products. Besides that i love everything on my xz... Yes there are few bugs which were really irritating but were gone after the software repair. The only thing I'm not satisfied is the camera, its not comparable with the 13mp 's in the market eg-Samsung, even gionee e5.5 has better camera. Night images are ok with night mode but very dark. One n half year ago when i bought my xz, i proudly poured water in it just to show off in front my friends and also used in waterparks but after 6months, looking at the condition of the flaps, i don't even dare pick up a call in the rain Face_with_stuck-out_Tongue sad but true. Overall i love my Z with its bugs and faults.

I think we all have different reasons and preferences

I think anybody interested in buying a smartphone should a) consider their budget [premium ones cost as much as a laptop or a tablet] b) consider what particular features they want to use it for (surfing? taking photos? watching videos? etc) c) look at some objective independent review sites (eg trustedreviews.com, which) d) go to a shop and see how it looks and feels in the hand.

I personally bought the z2 because apple products look lovely but are over-priced and dont have micro-sd card slots, and because I was looking for a great looking phone with a great camera so I had a half-decent backup to a real camera [a panasonic TZ30 model]. Android had a wider choice than [at the time] Windows phones, and I wanted a larger size screen to watch video, but not so large it couldnt fit in my jacket pocket (otherwise I would have bought a tablet).

Since I bought it, I have had to return it for repair twice within the 2 year warantee period [not from anything silly like testing water 'proof' ability]. In 2016 reviews, other brands/phones are now rated better both on battery life, camera and overall features than the latest Sony [the XZ], in particular the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, as well as the latest iphones. So I dont think I'd recommend a new top of the range Sony smartphone fom my own experience, and knowledge. It's a great phone but any consumer electronics which needs repair twice in its first two years feels like just too much hassle/faff. We are used to electronics being reliable [tvs, dvd players, lightbulbs].
