why do same phone have two different number???? (xperia mini)

i have a xperia mini mobile phone.

si number printed in the back side is 1248-9517 where as when i use "android system informetion" software downloaded from android market it shows different SI number (1249-7721)

you can access even more SI numbers if you use Service Menu but the only number that matters for this update is the one on the back

another point is...,

SI no 1248-9517 is listed in the ICS update list and SI no 1249-7721 is not listed in the ICS update list....., an when I connect my phone to PC companion to update my phone to ICS from gingerbird PCC shows "your phone is up to date"
now please tell me what's wrong going on......,
it is bit confusing for me...., which SI number is correct and which is wrong??????????

and finnaly the point is do my phone can be updated to ICS in near future or not????????

SI number is only one, and that is written on the back, behind battery.

Your SI is 1248-9517, which is mine too and for most Indian xperia mini's.

1249-7721 is the CDI or Customization Number, which i think is used by PCC and SUS for providing region specific updates/applications.

ICS is not available now for Indian users and we have to wait because of server overload issues as pointed out by Moderators all over this community forum.
