This seems like a weird question, but I've tried Googling and running through multiple support forums, but I can't find an answer, so I'm either missing something, or have a problem with my phone.
I recently purchased an Xperia Z5, and aside from the common headphone jack issue that seems to be everywhere on this forum, i've had no other issues.
Then recently I've noticed friends sending me emoji's which are coming back as boxes with an X in them... So once I updated to Marshmallow 6.0 I thought this would resolve the issue. Ends up every emoji from Unicode 7.0 onwards isn't readable on the Xperia Z5.
So is the Xperia Z5 only capable of reading Unicode 6.0, or do I need to repair the latest update to decode newer unicode?
-Thanks in advance
No worries, I've just found it really weird that I can't find a single forum or website with information related to it, but with other phones I can.
EDIT: I just recently found out, the Xperia is still at Marshmallow 6.0 and hasn't been updated to 6.0.1 yet, where all those changes are made including bringing back Stamina mode. Though I have no idea on when it's being rolled out 😕
Any light on when they are releasing the 6.0.1 update for the Z5 would be awesome.
We have started the rollout for Android 6.0.1 for Xperia Z5. However, availability can vary depending on country and operator so I'm afraid I can't say when the update will be available for your device.
@GunLemming I just want to confirm that the Xperia Z5 will support the Emojis in Unicode 7.0 and 8.0 in Android 6.0.1. As mentioned earlier software rollouts are a phased process so timings & availability may vary by market/carrier.
