What is best micro SD card for xperia (class 10 or UHS-I)?

Hi,

I'd like to buy new card for my xperia Ray and there isn't official information what kind of card the mobile could use?

I expecting that accept all SDHC types include UHS-I, but what type is the most usable (Class 4 / Class 10 / UHS-I) ?

ADATA Class 4

ADATA Class 10

ADATA Premier UHS

thx in advance

I would suggest you to just go for SDHC class 10

Although all cards will work but there is no need for UHS-I as your Ray cannot write at those higer speeds

But if you need to transfer a lot through pc to sd card then your wish, ofcourse UHS-I is Better than simple HDSC Slightly_smiling_Face

I am using

SanDisk® Ultra™ microSDHC 32 GB Class 10

Are you sure Nabeel? You are talking about writing, but all what I read about UHS-I is about advantage in reading random data, but all producers specified this advantage in IOPs units without another explanation and how can I guess that my xperia can use this advantage. And UHS-I is generally much slower in reading and writing than Class 10. So I still dont know what is more usefull - Class 10 for copying large data over cable or UHS-I for faster running applications (for example offline maps).

Adata UHS-I

Speed(read): 20(MB/s)

Speed(write): 5(MB/s)

Random (read) : 500 IOPs

Random (write) : 50 IOPs

Adata Class 10

Speed (read): 13~20 (MB/s)**

Speed (write): 14~17 (MB/s)**

I only said that

ofcourse UHS-I is Better than simple HDSC

and even i said

your Ray cannot write at those higer speeds

Means everything, reading writing,

Your ray cannot fully utilise the potential of a class 10 so there is no need for more reading of random read and write data.

Your ray may not be able to utilise the random read and write data feature

Another HIGH end smartphone with several cores may do that Slightly_smiling_Face ( i hope you got what i am trying to say ? )

Its your wish,,,, all you need to do is select the one that suits you..

What are your uses ?

thx, okay, so there is no difference between Class10 / UHS ( write 5MB/s) in practice as you said. And what about Class 4 (write 4MB/s) - xperia Ray could utilise greater speeds than Class 4 although lower speeds than Class 10 and the best way is choose Class 10? Or Class 4 is enough.

Adata Class 4

Speed (read): 10~14 (MB/s)**

Speed (write): 2~5 (MB/s)**

Class 6 atleast or class 10 is fine ( you never know what device you may buy in future, you can use this memory card in that one :smileywink:, so go for class 10 ).... not class 4. that would be less

And remember i am just suggesting you what i think..... i said UHS-I is better ! but not when used in ray...

I am just advicing and sharing my opinion Slightly_smiling_Face

The decision is your and has to be yours only
