ST18a updated this afternoon to the second release of ICS (was using first release previous to this).
USB Tethering and Wi-Fi Hotspot are no longer working. I can connect and get an IP address but no internet access.
This is real bad since this is a primary use for my phone.
UPDATE: Confirmed same behavior with a second laptop ... I can connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot on my phone but no internet access.
UPDATE: iPad via Wi-Fi Hotspot, same thing, gets IP address but no internet access.

freexperia cyanogenmod 10 solves the tethering problem.
Sony, you could learn from them to get a better understanding about this.
Johan,
I took my ST18a Ray into an AT&T store. Swapped SIMS with a working (hotspot feature) phone. With the SIM from that working phone in my Ray, hotspot would not work.
BUT ... my SIM in the stores phone, hotspot worked on that device (Samsung if I recall).
Put my SIM back into my phone ... no hotspot.
Both phones had ICS on them.
Flash back to Gingerbread is the only thing that would get hotspot working on my Xperia Ray.

Johan...There is a real bug in Xperia devices.
My test:
I have tested my SFR (France) SIM card in my Xperia T phone (tested on ICS and JB version): no tethering
I have tested my SFR Sim in a Galaxy S3: tethering work !
I have tested an Bouygues Telecom SIM in my Xperia T phone: tethering work
Conclusion:
There is a difference in the configuration of the two sim.
Bouygues Telecom use 2 APN (one for data, one for MMS)
SFR use 3 APN (two for data (one for smartphone, one for modem usage), one for MMS). In fact the phone is unable to use 3 APN.
The data support of SFR say me: it's the same problem for AT&T. Your phone is not able to switch from one APN to an other when you activate tethering...
Why ?:
There is a real bug in Xperia ICS and JB phones.
Samsung and HTC are able to run all type of Sim card, Sony Mobile not.
A sample of fix (found on xda forum):
app_51@android:/ $ su root
app_51@android:/ # iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT
app_51@android:/ # iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o rmnet0 -j MASQUERADE

ccwh.... don't loose your time. They know there is a bug. Bug they absolutely DON'T CARE of customer.
They lie, insult, and just want money.
Forget SONY definitively. There are so much manufacturer where you could WORK with your mobile instead of posting here.
Let them die slowly.... In 2 years, they will not exist any more.
Yes, you are true...
When i will replace my Xperia T phone, i will choose an other manufacturer.
And for this month I need to change one of my cellular. I will choose HTC, Google (Nexus 4) or Samsung...
I'm not a beta tester of Sony Mobile.
Look dudes, Sony annouced at CES that they are abandoning the low-end smartphone market. They have absolutely no incentive to fix the problem.
My answer was to purchase a Chinese Star Note 3, with Jelly Bean, no bloatware, and a working hotspot; for only $180, which includes free shipping
I will never again buy SONY crap
People at xda have already fixed your phone SONY, why can't you LEARN from them and provide an update so we don't need to root our phone??
i just tried to tether on my brand new sony ion phone. And i could not get it to work. I thought i was getting the best bang for my hard earnt money. Boy was I ever wrong. Good thing i'm only 8 days into my plan with the sony ion. If I can't get it to work by this friday night. I'm going back to wind and swapping for either a nexus 4 or a samsung s3. I picked sony because I have a sony ericsson. before and I believed in you guys.
Using Sony Live with walkman, facing same issue, no support form Sony... USB and WIFI tethering not working, only ip address created no internet connection
