Walkman & Movies Apps Not Updating

I have a UK Tablet Z WIFI 32GB (SGP312). It is running the latest Android OS (4.2.2 10.3.1.C.0.136). The recent updates to the Walkman & Movies Apps don't seem to be avilable.  The walkman app is still on version 6.x whearas the latest version 8.x (which has automatically downloaded to my xperia Z phone) is not available for the tablet.  I have tried doing the update via the update application but no update is found.

How can I get the latest versions of the walkman & movies apps on my tablet?

Same here. I figure they just haven't released them for the Tablet Z yet.

I also didn't get it from sony. But I got them from the XDA forums and installed it separately. It was all working fine until Sony sent me a new free movie. It wouldn't download for some reason. So I had to uninstall the movie update, download the movie and then reinstall the update from xda... Having said that I've never understood Sony's update mechanism.if anyone understands it and willing to explain, I am all ears....Google has released 4.4.2. There are people still waiting for 4.2 I believe... Forget Android, if they can release updates to fix their own issues, it would be great..I would be content with a properly working tablet on a stable software..

Same here - I simply concur!

It's just beyond comprehension how long can it take for SONY to release updates to all devices. My tablet seems stuck with 'recent' [August 2013] 4.2.2 upgrade and none of the SONY apps got updated since. Strange and most peculiar - it almost looks like an error as my phone being also from XPERIA Z family [4.2.2] receives these quite regularly.

(not that I presonally cannot live without these updates - but there are some that cannot!)

My tablet eventually got updated as 4.3 became eventually available (not OTA but via SUS / PC Companion though, but it does not matter that much).

What I have noticed is that:

* Both aforementioned apps (Walkman & Movies) are still few versions behind the ones available on my XPERIA Z phone (still on 4.2.2). As I've applied the hint as per few posts above and installed them independently, they were effectively 'downgraded' as the result. I will put aside the comment that if they are upgraded, there are some troubles arising with accessing information from SONY VIDEO UNLIMITED or similar,

* Diagnostics app does not show last software update check date for these anymore on either tablet or phone - funny, it used to produce nice summary table with this information.

I got an answer from Sony support in UK through facebook that the media apps will also be upgraded in a phased manner. Having received no media apps updates through OTA, and since Sony does not publish the versions of the media apps that they have released, I just want to understand if anyone in this forum has received the Media apps update (Walkman version 8.1.A.0.3) ?

I have found out the new version numbers through XDA forums and from people who have Xperia phones ( where incidently it seems to be getting updated)

Walkman version 8 has been released long before 4.3 was released for the XTZ. So what is the real story ? Can someone from Sony explain ? Please ?

the tablet z never had these updates but with xda I was able to installed the updates of all sony app. But if they are not available by someone else for sure it's not from Sony... I figure that Sony are concentrating every effert to the smartphone and the LTE tablet being closer to the phone gets an update later and the wifi version I guess need more work so it does not get any..... but than again the apps should be working with any version ???????
