Very low volume on video recordings

HI,

I had to have my Z3 Compavt replaced as the headphone jack stopped working, couldn't be repaired so replaced. So now I have brand-new handset but when I record any video, the playback volume is so low that even if you put your ear against the phone you can barely hear any sound.

Calls seem fine and I have disabled noise supression, 'Hearimg aids' is not enabled. Previous videos I recorded on the old handset playback at normal volume, but the new handset is reording video at such a low volume I can barely hear it at all.

Any ideas anyone ?

Thanks

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Thanks Thommo. However I use a Mac, so I assume 'Bridge for Mac' is the same ?.  Having used Bridge to backup my phone before, I noticed doesn't backup apps so reluctant to use that and reset my phone again. Any other suggestions anybody ?

Ok, so I baked up my phone, using Bridge & Google and performed a repair via Bridge. Still the same, recorded video comes out at very low volume despite the volume being tuned up to near full. This is kinda getting frustrating, the mic seems to work just fine on calls and it's not as if I can't hear any volume on recorded video, it's just very low. So seems like a software setting somewhere, I have video set to 'Superior Auto'.

Is there anything covering the mics? (protective case, protective film, etc.

No nothing at all, the phone is bare. It's really confusing, is there a seperate mic on the phone used used for recoeding video ?.

The phone has 2 mics, one main mic and the noise canceling mic on the back, you might want to get it checked with your local Xperia Care

Hi Deano,

Did you find a solution? I have a new z3 and noticed it records video with a low volume too.

Thanks
