I am trying to attach my tablet to a TV with an HDMI connection. Since the port is a mini usb, I cannot find a cord to directly plug one device to the other. I have tried screen mirroring several times with no luck.
When I use a usb to HDMI adapter, I get several error messages. The red error triangle says my USB devices have been disabled. "Power consumption by connected devices is increased, therefore, all of them have been disabled. Please disconnect them and try reconnecting one after another." But, if the tablet doesn't have mini HDMI, how else am I supposed to connect it to a TV?
@Lexa46 as @Phy said you need MHL adapter.
It converts output signals from tablet to HDMI output. Keep in mind that your tablet supports only certain resolutions, so it will work with any modern HD TV set but may refuse to work with Full HD monitors.
I've tried mine on Dell FullHD monitor that lacker 1080p30 and 1080p24 resolutions - it failed.
Supported resolutions by this tablet are:
- 1080p24
- 1080p30
- 720p60
- 480p60
Tablet selects resolutions in above order. First mathed will be used.
Screen refresh rate will be reduced to match selected TV resolution. It means that when your TV supports 1080p24 (basically any new TV) your tablet will switch to 24 fps. Movies recorded in 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps will have dropped frames (quite annoing). Games are hardly playable at 24 fps.
For browsing images and playing presentations, website content etc. it is more that enough.
To override resolution you need to enter tablet service menu (*#*#7378423#*#*, available also for Wifi version), and configure MHL Resolution. As far as I remember it will loose last setting upon disconnection.
Also keep in mind that MHL adapters need to be powered from USB charger. Recommended power is at least 1.5A. You will need to carry it with you whenever you will try to output HDMI video from tablet.
Thank you @SergioPL and @Phy. The adapter I was using doesn't have an extra socket for a power source.
