Hi, I have recently bought my Sony Experia P and have problems transferring MP3 music tracks and Photos to/from my Linux Ubuntu computer via the USB cable. When connected, I can see all the folders in the 'phone on my computer, but after I open the folders containing music or photos and try to drag any file over in either direction, it often fails or is extremely slow taking maybe 5 minutes to transfer one file. However, very occasionally file transfer works normally but I haven't been able to discover why. I'd be grateful for any advice. (I don't use Windows PCs Mac OS computers)
Facing the same issue man, i even opened a discussion regarding, plz let me know if you find any solution to it i use ubuntu 10.10
can you try copying from other Operating System? and watch if you still having the issue.
Xperia P uses MTP protocol and drivers for USB connection. Check that you have proper MTP drivers on your computer or connect your phone to another computer to check if the same problem can be replicated.
Thank you. I have now downloaded and installed 'gMPT' on my Linux Ubuntu computer and that works and I can now transfer photos and music files both ways without any problems.
I think that the instructions for the 'phone need the information about the use of the MPT protocol added.
Hey ChirsD,
I've installed "gMPT" on my Ubuntu 10.10, but still not working for me, can you elaborate on how to install the drivers and make'em work
hi All,
I just changed the settings/Xperia/ Connectivity / USB connection mode - from Media Transfer Mode (MTP) to Mass Storage Mode (MSC) on my Sony Ericsson wt19i live with walkman phone.
USB Connection is okay between my fresly installed Linux Mint and my Android 4.0.4.
Good luck.
