Updating caused USB cable problems

Hi I connected my phone to my pc for the first time today to upload some photos and downloaded PCC.  It prompted me to update so I followed the instructions and when I got to the 'hold the volume down button while plugging the USB cable into the phone', the phone came on with the vibration & green light, opened with the Sony screen then went to a screen with a warning icon with a blue exclamation mark in it & a phone below.  I have tried to disconnect, reconnect, taken the battery out, put it back in again.  Now the phone will not even charge - it seems like the USB cable is not working.  Has anyone any answers?

We need also more information:

- are you still able to turn on the phone and boot it normally to GingerBread?

- if yes, then when you plug wall charger, is it charging?

- if yes, what happens when you connect phone to computer via USB cable? Are you able to copy any data (photos) from SD card?

- if yes, then you have no problem. Just install SUS and update to ICS

But if your phone is not booting, install SUS and update to ICS. It looks that sometinhg failed before/during attempt to upgrade to ICS and you received mentioned "screen with a warning icon with a blue exclamation mark in it & a phone below"

As mentioned above I would suggest installing SUS on your PC then trying to run your phone through that program. If that does not resolve the issue then the phone would need to be examined at your local repair centre.
