Update Vanished after downloading

Checking for system update on the phone showed an update build no. 23.1.A.0.690 which apparently is Android Lollipop was available via PC Companion only. So I conected via PC and followed the instructions. It took a while to download the Android L update and message prompted that the device will turn off. The device then turned off and the message on the PC Companion said that there was no updates available.

Now even my PC Companion says I'm running the latest version which is Kitkat. I tried checking for an update over phone.  It says I've got the latest version. What did I miss here? Anyone faced the same problem. Or is it that Sony withdrew the update?

i tried to update my phone and my pc went off during the process. eversince i have not been able to put the phone on. my phone only display soney sign and the screen stays like that . pls help me.

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

m in India ....i dont think so that a internet service provider has to pass the update....M using a broadband connection to update n in India mostly all phones are unlocked....so i dont think so internet is the problem here.....Plz update me if there's anything i am unaware of....n thanks for your support....

Same problem here... Me having Z2 D6502 from India, faced same issue. First found new software update while OTA check with advice to update through PC companion, but when attached with PC & tried to update it says "You have latest updated software already installed"...
Now, both OTA update and PCC is playing same chord..."You have latest updated software already installed"...
Please help...

Already tried all that is mentioned in the above posts including reinstalling pc companion. Nothing works. Looks like Sony pulled back the uupdate for whatever reason best known to them. Even called customer care in India who confirmed the lollipop release but was unaware of the vanishing update issu.

Tried to repair my phone and got this problem:

Tried it again and got the same problem.

 The pictures are german but it says smth like that:

First pic: Check internet connection

2nd Pic: companion can successfully connect to the internet.

Firewall doesn't show anything.

Edit: My Phone starts but it only shows the black screen with "SONY" and at the bottom "XPERIA".

It's a little different, but I get exactly the same Problem I had when I wanted to update, which caused the problem of my phone not starting.

First it starts:

But then I get an a message saying "an error occured":

After pressing continue it didn't work and I get the new error saying "Download not possible, check your internet connection", even though there aren't any problems with it.

Same problem as when I wanted to update.

I've Windows 7 64Bit, I already updated using Companion in the past. Haven't done anything since then.

If you have the time then you could try this guide - Although unofficial it is very effective as it's what I use - Ignore the title as it's the process you need to follow and is the same for all Xperia devices
