Update not working for Xperia u

hi,

im trying to update my xperia u from update service, but an error message is coming like "D:\Program files\Sony Erricsson\Update Service\Workspace\.metadata\.log". please help me out.

i cannot update my phone...even after pressing the vol key down while inserting the usb cable to my phone ,the phone turns on and nothing happens!!!

you're supposed to press and hold the volume down key while inserting the cable, and hold it until the update starts, it should start immediately and then you can release

No. Pressing the volume down didn't work for me either. It did during my first update but this recent update was different. My phone stayed dead even if I did all the update procedure right.

The only thing that works is the SUS that uliwooly posted. Try it.

Does the phone have to be off before plugging the USB? I tried turning off the phone, then turning it on after 30sec & pressing the volume down before inserting the cable, but nothing happens. I'm using SUS.

Well, when I used SUS, my phone wasn't turning on. So I just plugged in the USB and followed the instructions. My phone was revived after the installation.

Charge Phone to 100%

Turn Off phone

Start SUS

Accept Terms and Conditions

Select Phone

Plug USB in PC

Press & Hold the volume down key (keep pressed)

Plug smaller side of USB in mobile (Volume down is still pressed)

Wait 10 seconds till you see an instruction on screen to leave volume down key

Wait 1 hour for updating and installing updates

After updating done keep phone in a cool place (AC room) and charge for an hour.

Switch On.

Uninstall Mcafee, powersaver, wisepilot and other bloatware that gets reinstalled on every update.

Change live wallpaper to static wallpaper.

Goto settings and do a settings reset.

Reinstate your personalised settings.

i tried everything as mentioned above. even then nothing happens after plugging in usb cable into the phone. phone doesn't even start after plugging in. firewall and antivirus are turned off in pc. pls help me

SUS should work unless your phone is low-batt coz the update takes time before completing. even if your phone is dead and not disabling firewall/antivirus, the phone will be revived after the update.
