unresponsive touch screen after android update

My phone started working weird after the last android update. The start screen was not working, my notifications were not working as usual. Suddenly it just stoped responding. Now I can't use it. The screen is not responding at all. I tried the hard reset, where I press the up volume and the power button, and it resets, but the screen is still unresponsive.

I'm calling Sony tomorrow.  I hope they fix this mess!!!!!! My phone was working fine and I was a happy customer until this update. Now I don' t even have a phone anymore.

Hi maggie-j

Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

You could try running a software repair first to see if that helps and if it doesn't I would then advise contacting Sony Xperia Customer Care in your region.

Firstly download PC Companion or Bridge for Mac

Note: the repair will delete all user data however you can do a back up beforehand.

To back up your phone using PC Companion
1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows
computer.
2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

To back up your phone using Bridge for Mac

1. Open Bridge for Mac

2. Click the option that says Back up your Xperia Device under Manage Media

3. Follow the on screen instructions

Running the software repair on a PC

2. Phone Software Update.

3. Start.

4. Repair Phone

5. Continue

6. Accept data removal

7. Next

8. Wait for prepare

9. Select Phone

10. Follow the connection steps

Running the software repair on a Mac
