HI guys! I wanted to ask all of you about your experiences getting your Z3 wet, did you immersed it? Have you done some test before getting in water?
I have only taken the camera side of the phone on a fresh water Lake with recording on (I don't want to push buttons when on water) several times.
To tell the the truth im terrified of doing so and I don't really want to totally getting the phone on the water, moreover haven read about phones diying in water lately on the net.
I use an app named "waterproof test" from the Google play store to check if the phone is water tight before anything and until today nothing bad happened.
Thanks in advance!
To start with, those apps on Play Store are useless, don't count on them.
Secondly, you phone is waterproof as stated by Sony, up to 1 meter under fresh water for 30 minutes, pushing buttons is not tested and not recommended, and flaps should be checked to be securely closed before using in wet conditions.
For myself, I took some pictures with my Z3 dual (and my Z1 before) in pool with some friends, no damage happened. But still, my advice is not to treat your Xperia phone as if you have a GoPro in hand. The main intent from waterproofness if your phone is to withstand accidental splashes or drops in water. If you really wanna use it under water, make sure at least you are taking care of all the limitations: closed flaps, fresh water, 1 meter and 30 min max, no cracks or bends on the body.
In case any damage happens after all of this, you may ask for a vacuum test in your Local support to prove that it's a manufacturing defect rather than misuse.
As @Quester said, your device is waterproof and has a rating of IP68, which means it can be submerged upto 1,5m and 30 minutes. you are allowed to use it in chlorinated pool and fresh water, salt water can damage your device and void your warrenty.
You are allowed to use buttons underwater that's why the shutter button is there, to use it underwater since the screen wont work there.
