I agree with naleb1 and JonC here. The Z1 is a lemon with the 4.3 update.... to name a few, sound so low you can't even hear it properly, sound enhancements not working, continuous bluetooth disconnects. Need I go on? I have been loyal to SE / Sony, the Z1 being my 5th phone by them. Never have I had so many problems. I didn't want to join the Samsung or Apple train but in some ways I wish I had! Really dissatisfied
In the interest of fairness I will test out this phantom update today with my main Z1 (I have more than one) using PowerAmp & a Plantronics 903+ BT headset & a SW2 ... I will UPDATE this posting during the day with feedback.
(Edit 07:00) Doesn't look good. BT headset play button isn't responding. Had to start music on Z1. Pause/Play now working on headset.
(Edit 09:00) So far so good. Audio hasn't been choppy & Pause/Play is now working. Had audio playing on & off for around 40 minutes.
Now I'm confused. There's no White Balance within the Display settings. So what was that update?
(edit) SUS also states I have the latest software
What the update did for me was enable 4G. Maybe that is what it was for.
I am on 3 UK and have been waiting for this as I work in a 4G area.
This is the update, which adds white balance and a few other fixes. Unfortunately, it doesn't fix the Bluetooth issues or the sound enhancements not working on other apps, not to mention the low volume in general on 4.3! All this was fine in 4.2.
The 'update' has enabled 4G for UK unbranded phones using the Three network. Otherwise it appears identical to the 290 firmware update received earlier this year.
After the update it appear .290... the only different is the 4G enable option as mention before... so???? Where is the .136? Sony Z1 sim free UK.... so don't tell me network problem again!!! Sony please stop fooling us....seriously!!! Getting sick of it....
Alan, according to another user on this site us UK sim-free owners won't get an update until all the UK Operators (Vodafone, O2, etc) have approved it. Hmmmm
I can confirm that the only UK handset to have received the .136 update are O2 and T-Mobile - Vodafone, 3 and Generic are all still on .290 firmware - I will assume as per how the releases have worked in the past that as soon as Vodafone and 3 approve then Generic will have it - Where as O2 and T-Mobile are not bound by the same rules
