Hi Thommo

Thanks for the info.  BUT; and again this is not at you - I find this unacceptable.  Bluetooth & other things like touchscreens are not working as they should.  So; what rules are we talking about here?

UK generic or UK SIM free phones have been last to get the firmware updates for a while. It also happened with the Xperia Z.

If as has been stated, the UK generic firmware is only being approved after all the UK networks have approved their bloatware version (which are all based on the UK generic firmware) it seems clear that Sony UK are not actually testing the firmware themselves. They are waiting for everyone else to give the all clear and then releasing it.

If Sony had a decent firmware beta programme like the fruit based company who shall not be mentioned, we wouldn't be subject to this crappy process. The current process (crappy) is fundamentally flawed. It's apparent that some networks do little or no testing.  If they did, they would not have approved the .136 firmware as it's got some fairly annoying bugs in it. This early (careless) release is possibly done to ingratiate themselves to their customers who annoy the **bleep** out of customer services asking about the release date (nobody ever gives it).

A long and drawn out process involving very few people is not the way to go. Release a beta to a few thousand people and you will have your bug list in days rather than weeks or even months.

Improve the process even further by releasing a unified firmware and stop pandering to phone networks who want to add annoying bloatware that nobody wants in the first place.

Sony have told me that this is an updated version, even though the build number does not change. The update is a "CDF" minor update

Good question.

Sony UK are are still waiting to be told by 2L support what this is for. Once they tell me, I will post on here.

Well you may think the Sim Free / non branded are last to get the update but you're not. vodfaone has spectacularly failed in approving the update so I'm stuck with a useless piece of **** phone that i cant use in my car.

Not sure if this is going to help you; but after a fair bit of tougue-biting and swearing at Sony's poor backup (90 hours to backup?  Really?!) I ended up doing the PCC repair which as you probably know wipes your phone.

Well; it's made Bluetooth better for me.  Its not perfect, but its usable.   However, oddly some things have changed from a 4.2.2. to 4.3 update to a full 4.3 wipe.  For example, the calender reminder dialogs are different.  Which makes me wonder; was the 4.2.2 to 4.3 update flawed?  Is it sorta fixed by a full 4.3 wipe?

(BTW, the Bluetooth "throw" feature introduced with 4.3 causes all sorts of problems with BT AVRCP remote control; particularly with BT 2.1 stacks.  Would be nice to know how to turn that Throw feature off)
