Hey,
I was hoping that my GPS would start working after the update to ICS, but apparently nothing changed. So then I guess it's time to start figuring out why it doesn't work...
The GPS worked very well from I bought the phone (in Nov 2011) until about a month ago. I believe that it stopped working right after some kind of system update (probably the previous one). It must have been some time after the Easter holiday, because I know it still worked on my skiing trips in Easter.
What I have tried:
- Google Maps (it finds my position, but only approximately and only if I have Wifi coverage).
- Strava (it cannot find my position at all)
- the Service Test menu (the GPS location goes on forever without results)
I have read somewhere that data connection needs to be enabled for the GPS to work properly (dunno why...) and when testing the GPS I have usually switched on both the Wifi and the data connection. So that's not the problem (yes, I've also tried switching them off).
So the question is:
What else can I do to fix it?
...am I the only one with GPS trouble here?
(PS. I've searched the forum a few times without any good results)
cheers
Have you tested your GPS in the service menu to see how many satellites you get connection with?
*#*#7378423#*#* in dialer. Service tests > GPS.
You can also try to purge assistance data.
Yes, that's what I referred to above:
the Service Test menu (the GPS location goes on forever without results)
After starting the GPS Location Test, the phone says "Please wait..." for about 3 minutes or until the screensaver goes on, and then it jumps back to the Service Menu. Number of located satelites: zero.
"Purge assistance data" did not do anything...
Does the service menu save a log somewhere?
Oh, sorry missed that.
Well if it still can't locate any satellites (even if you're outside with no roofs) I think it needs to be checked at an repair center. Contact you local support team for more info.

OK, thank you.
