The boost charger EP850 will work with Xperia S but the phone does not support the boost charging feature so it will be just like charging with the EP800 (the one you already have). but is not shipped with EP-850.... for all markets.

Xperia P is the first of our phones that support the boost charging feature and that also comes with the fast charger EP-850.

I think some markets got the Xperia S kitted with EP850, but as I said, it doesn't matter if it's EP850 or EP800 since the phone does not support the boost feature.

Was the phone not advertised as being capable of fast charging? I thought that was a feature before I purchased it? Is the feature dependant on the type of battery or software/firmware related? It may be that it was stated early in development that it would have the feature and it just did not come to be as early specs should be taken with a grain of salt but it is a bit disappointing as I was looking forward to that feature. Let me check to confirm. The latest info I got said that Xperia P is the first phone to support this.

I see the PE851 is on the sony website but what price will it be?? could a mod answer please,

Also would a third party charger with the same specs as the 851 do the same job? for instance this one  http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004ZKIXNW/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d1_g23_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf...

Thanks

We do not sell this product in our own online shop so I cannot tell what the price is.

You need to ask a dealer who sell it for the price information.

Also, I strongly advice you not to use 3rd party chargers or batteries. 3rd party developed accessories can often be used without any problems at all but when it comes to power related stuff like the battery or charger I always recommend users to stick to original accessories for safety reasons.

But why is it listed on the sony website as an extra without any price? http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/accessories/quick-charger-ep851/

Also could you recommend a dealer to us all or where we can buy it in store or online??

It doesn't have a price since we do not sell this accessory in our own shop. Only the phones and accessories with a price tag are being sold in the eShop we have. (This eShop is not available in all countries).

I cannot recommend a specific dealer unfortunately.

You can try calling the regional Sony Mobile support office and ask them about this. They might have a good tip for you. Slightly_smiling_Face

Here's the deal.

Xperia P is the first phone that support this and that also comes with the fast charger EP-850.

Xperia S support fast charging but is not shipped with EP-850.

This is the generic setup and does not have to be the truth for all markets. I know for instance that Xperia S does come with the fast charger on some markets despite this.
