hello,

        I recently realised that my xperia device has a limit of characters in a text message.....when the limit is crossed....the message is converted into 2 or more text messages...

.

is there  way to turn off that limit.

That is only when you use special characters. Check it out with your network for more info.

It depends from language to language,where are you from? For example,I have some characters called diacritics for letters such as S,T,A etc.( Ș,Ț,Ă) see? For these, a message will count them as more characters.

Hi, if as i suspect you are talking about the amount of 'words' you can type in a message this is a standardised amount of letters or 'characters' that is allowed hence Short Message Service......as you see when it goes over this amount it carries on to Message 2
