Text app stop working after lollipop update

I have a Z3 compact and just updated to Lollipop. After the update i cant send or receive text messages. Also all my old texts (33.000+) wont show. What to do?

That's quite a bit of texts, which slow down your phone, I haven't received the update just yet, but sometimes when it's a major update the texts and call logs are deleted. 

What do you see when you open the messaging app?

What if you install another messaging app, like Messenger by Google

you might want to consider backing up your texts with Gmail so you can access them anywhere, instead of storing them on your phone.

Got it working now. But is there any way to storage the texts on the SD-card instead!

As standard, it's not possible to store the text messages on the SD-card. And unfortunately, I'm not familiar with any kind of application which can do this (more than apps that may backup/restore data).

Just to add, if you have a lot of text messages, it can take a longer time for the phone to index all of them.

If you use whatsapp you can create backups on your SD card but you shouldn't stored so many texts on your phone, what are the odds you are going to go back and read them all, not to mention that it will slow down your messaging app and phone.

I have same problem, just updated my Z3 and everything works fine except message app, that just crashes. Cant send or recieve any texts!

Anyone got a solution? Would like to try and reinstall the app but since it's native that doesn't seem possible?  Help would be very appreciated
