Syncing music over USB to Micro SD always results in error

I've just started using the M4 Aqua. I intend to use it also as my music player so I bought a 128GB Micro SD, on which I want to transfer my music library.

Unfortunately this results in an error while copying over USB.

The syncing software freezes and the Micro SD card is no longer accessible: I cannot read from the card, I cannot unmount it unless I format the card in the phone. Which I have already done several times.

I use MusicBee for the syncing, because Media Go doesn't offer the flexibility for the library I need. Now please don't tell me it's the software, because the syncing process in MusicBee works perfectly.

I have tried the following:

- Syncing the entire library of about 64GB at once > Freezes at 6% (happens both in MusicBee as in Winamp)

- Syncing all the music to the Micro SD with a card reader > Succesfull sync, but the phone cannot read the music folder  (?)

- Syncing a small portion of the library to the SD in the phone and adding more music after a succesfull sync > Freezes at a certain point, after copying around 4GB (which is 6% of 64GB!)

Musicbee gives me the following error: 0x802a0006

Syncing error

I don't know what else to try. I resetted the phone right now and maybe I will test it once more with Media Go, but I expect the same error.

The phone has no code lock yet, so that is not causing a problem.

Is there something wrong with the phone?

Obviously I can transfer all the 64 GB to the Micro SD card, so I don't think the card is faulty.

try 1 or 2 GB at the time

That's actually what I tried as I explained in my 3rd point (but maybe not clear enough): I added around 500 MB of music, which was successfull. This I repeated, until at around 4GB of synced music the process freezes.

I'll look into it but I remember that Android had a limit of 2GB

@uliwooly,

I did some searching and I think the 2GB limit (or according to others a 4GB limit) is about the max size of one single file.

At the moment I'm trying the syncing again with a fresh resetted phone. So let's see.

OK, I did a reset and started syncing again around 4,5 GB of music. And again no luck.
This time I used MediaMonkey, which also started OK. But at some point copying the files went slower, until it stopped. When I cancelled the syncing I got a list with around 20-30 songs that couldn't be copied successfully.

So I started checking the storage on the phone again. I could see the Micro SD card, but it kept on calculating the space used by photos, apps etc. until the phone restarted by itself.
Now I need to erase the SD card to be able to mount it. Just as I did all the other times before. So in the end still no solution.

I did a new test:

copying files directly from the computer to the SD card in the phone.

Again, no luck. At a certain moment one file couldn't be copied.

I tried opening apps like a file manager or a music player but they blocked.

Looking at the storage on the phone in settings it kept on calculating the space and all I could do was restart the phone.

After the restart the Micro SD was not accessible, couldn't be mounted and I had to erase it in order to make at usable again.

@foolsgold

could you retest everything with a different SD card?
