Hi,
About two weeks ago I suddenly experienced a battery drain for my xperia SP. I bought it July 2013 and until now, I never had any problems with it (I could do 4 days without charging). All of a sudden, my battery level decreased 20% overnight. Everything is turned off and stamina mode and power saving is turned on.
I bought the phone because of it's battery capacity, but now it's starting to lose battery without doing anything. I tried several solutions (remove apps that could be draining battery, remove possible corrupted mediafiles etc) but no success so far. It keeps losing 20% overnight.
I have not updated to 4.3 jelly bean (update 12.1.A.0.266) yet because of bad reviews.
Does anyone know what is going on? This is extremely annoying. I'm going to try a factory reset now because I've run out of options.
Thanks!

After a factory reset things seemed to have improved.
I'm two days on battery now and I've still got 70% left.

I am sorry, but I don't want to install the latest updates. There seem to be more issues than I have now, and I don't believe Sony is able to make my phone perform less until I upgrade to the latest Android version.
After the factory reset, my battery life increased significantly for a week or so. Now I'm experiencing the same issue. I barely use my phone anymore, because I want to save the battery and since this morning I've already lost almost 30% of my battery, whereas last week I could do 4 days without recharging (after the reset).
Please, if you have ANY idea what the cause of this is, tell me.
I have noticed I receive whatsapp messages from time to time, although wifi and data are off the whole time. That is what my phone shows anyway. Could the problem be found in that direction?

My SP drains too. Currently @ repair center... I hope its HW error ,but i dont know.
Some rumors says : look for com.sonyericsson.android or whatever @ Apps. Force stop it.
Helps or not ,i dont know.....
I'm experiencing the exact same thing. My SP starts overheating and the battery drains. It's the second phone I get as the first one was sent back and exchanged. I'm going to have to send it back again. I bought Sony because of their reputation, because their products are supposed to be excellent qualitu but I'm starting to get really fed up and it's safe to say my next phone won't be a Sony one.
