storage issue

hi,i'm running on android 4.0.4. Now, i'm facing some issue about my sd card storage on my phone.

my capacity of my sd card is 8GB. actually 7.38GB available. i am just install my apps,pics,songs and others which total only 1.5GB !!!

but when i check my storage (setting) there,i found tat only 2.67GB available.What is this means? Where are the another 3.21GB? urgent !!!

I guess you see that available space info in the phone? What if you connect the phone to a computer, do you get the same amount of available space? Or does it show another amount of free space?
