I bought the Spiro about a week ago and immediately bought a memory card so that I could store my music on there. The phone did not come with a USB cable (which I find a bit cheeky as people are expected to pay for a USB cable AND a memory card if they want to use it for it's Walkman function - no wonder it seemed like a bargain price!)
SO I bought a memory card (SD Micro with an a larger 'adaptor' memory card to put it in my laptop) but not a usb cable as I can't afford it. However, I was told that I could put music files onto the card from my laptop, put the card in the phone and access them from there.
Now I have done this, I have ripped the music from a CD, saved as MP3, transferred to the memory card, put the card in the phone, located files on the phone but they won't play!!! It just keeps saying 'playback failed' - whether I play through Walkman or File Manager.
I have been looking at the FAQs online but there is nothing that is offering me a solution to this problem. I have also contacted Sony Ericsson Support but have heard nothing back yet.
I bought the Spiro for its simplicity but it seems I may have made the wrong choice.
So as I see it I have shelled out £50 for a phone and £20 for memory card which I cannot currently use.
If anyone can offer any help at all I would really appreciate it!
http://www.soft82.com/download/windows/switch-audio-file-converter/ This sounds like a music file format compatibility issue and since there is no type of media manager for the Spiro, I would suggest you use an audio file format converter such as Switch from the link above, to convert your mp3 music files into .aac, .m4a or .mp4 format.Hope this helps.
Thank you SO much Dr Chris! I converted from mp3 to m4a and am now up and running
No worries!
