Hi,
I'm a new french Sony smartphone user (previously owner of an iPhone). I bought the brand new Xperia Z 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, i meet the following issue when I play music, whatever the application I use (Walkman or Google Music): the music stops playing, between 1 or 2 seconds, then restarts playing for a while, and stops again, etc etc. It is quite annoying I have to admit !
Are you aware of that issue ? if yes, is there a solution ? I have already done a factory reset, twice.
Thanks in advance for your help.
What format is the music in and what method did you use to get it across to the phone?

I have 2 formats: mp3 and m4a. I've first used the Media Go application to transfer the files into my phone, then I've activated the Google Music app (listening music from the cloud or from the local cache). Both applications give the same issue.
That is odd, though it rules out a number of potential causes. I would advise in this case running an update/repair:
To repair the phone software
1. Install PC Companion on a Windows PC from Support
2. Turn on the phone, and connect it to the PC using a USB cable.
3. In PC Companion, under Support Zone and click Start.
4. Under Phone Software Update, click Start.
5. Click repair phone.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

After having followed your requirements, and 2 factory resets, the sound issue is still pending. It's really disturbing. Hope it's a software issue. If Sony Development Team & Support could check that...
For your information, when connecting my Xperia Z through bluetooth in my car, I have never met the issue.
