sony Xperia z1 compact ruined after lollipop upgrade

What's happened? Loved my phone when it was on kitkat. Now it's slow, sluggish and errors popping up. Eg Xperia home closing. Camera slow to start and photos taking forever to save. Apps take ages to start up. What's gone wrong Sony? Any fixes? How do I get my phone running smoothly because at the moment, I wish you hadn't released lollipop update!

reinstalling lollipop with PCC will smooth things out, you posted here because you are experiencing issues, so just reinstall lollipop (clean install) and report back.

Why? My phone seems to be working fine. I've got no issues with it, plus I've spent ages reinstalling stuff. I posted on here because I had issues, now I don't, job done. I don't see why I need to do anything further. As I've said, if I have further issues, I'll do as was suggested. But in the mean time, I'll leave as is thanks.

Glad to hear that you aren't experiencing any issue.

The PC companion 'fix' fixed nothing for me. Just lost all my personalisation and still did not give me mobile data. Today I have no wifi either. And I used to really like this phone, now it's verging on useless.

@guymonde

have you flashed the phone? unlocked the bootloader? exposed the phone to water? disassembled the phone?

You could contact your local Xperia Care to get it checked

Thanks but I don't think I've done any of that - just what the Sony support and my network told me to do, which was mainly PC companion.

There's no doubt at all that this is a Lollipop problem. It was fine until the Lollipop 'upgrade' and has been pants ever since. I seem to have got wifi back after I turned it off and on again, so I suppose that's progress. But I just want my Kitkat phone back. (Actually I just want the thing to WORK)

I understand your frustration, it'll be wise to stop by your local Xperia care, so they can take a look at your phone.

I'm in the same boat as GuyMonde. My phone was running like a dog after lollipop upgrade - most frustratingly after the birth of my daughter, the camera consistently freezes during small video clips so all the wee memento videos I wanted to take are pretty horrible to watch.

So I folowed the instructions to update using PCC and have to say its a fairly ugly process, but got there eventually. Similarly to aove, the backup and restore seems to have amounted to putting photos back on the device - all "other settings", ie customisations, have gone. But the most frustrating thing again is the same as pre-upgrade. Videos freeze during recording.

Pretty poor all round. I loved the device pre-lollipop and I do like lollipop a lot, but the two don't seem to go together for me.

I didn't do the PCC update as everyone above kept suggesting. Try doing a factory reset as I did. Phone worked perfectly after that.

On another note, my phone is currently at Sony repair centre due to a build up of dust behind the rear lens making it almost impossible to take decent photos or video. Not very dust proof are they?!

Update to above - once the new install had bedded in the phone is now working fine, so I probably jumped the gun after update. It was slow and draggy immediately after but that's because it took a while to download and install all the backed up apps.

Fresh lollipop install definitely the way forward!
