Sony Xperia SP Front Camera Unknown Error

Hi!

I got an Xperia SP about a week ago and everything was going fine until I decided to use the front camera.

The problem is that when I switch to the front camera, the screen goes black and after about 15 seconds it says 'Unknown Error' and the only option closes the camera app.

From a Google search, I've seen other users have similar problems with other Sony phones so I tried their solutions but none so far have worked. I have tried the following so far:

1) updating phone to the latest firmware

2) going into settings > apps > all > camera > clearing everything

3) resetting phone to factory settings

the main camera works fine and I have taken pics and even recorded with it. Its just when I switch to the front facing camera that the problem begins.

Anyone got more idea's or should I send it back? Got it from e2save who don't even advertise a contact number anymore.

I hope Sony release an update to fix this because it seems like a common problem...along with wifi issue and all the junk that the phone comes with which you can't delete.

The SP is far from the standards of other Sony devices I have like the vita, the ps3 and even the xperia mini.

I might just get a cheap nexus next time around.

I have purchased my xperia sp also last week and I found today that the front facing camera does not work with a message " unfortunately, camera has stopped".

I did a factory reset and the problem persisted. Think I will need a replacement. I have faced issues earlier with the Tipo's touch not working and expected this model to work seamlessly, given the higher price. My just have to switch to another phone as well.

So dissappointing. 

Any suggestions will help

I ran the diagnostic app and selected the front camera.

Again, a black screen and then a message to say the diagnostic app has crashed.

I'm just gonna send it back.

Try turning it off and then on again worked for me

lads, i had the same problem as yours..did u try just to restart the phone?? cause when i restart my phone its comeback to normal again..

Force shut down(press the little button on the back of the phone).
