Hi,
After the latest update my battery keeps getting drained very quickly, I have to charge it twice a day sometimes, when I checked the Battery use I found the android system used 59% of the bettery, it is always the same percentage whereas my wife's phone is on Andoid V2.3 and it last 4 times the life of my phone, could you please release a patch to fix this problem?
I wish I could roll back the update.
Hi.
I checked regarding the Android System consumption as well and I found the following:
The Android System is definitely consuming more than it should.
By clicking the Android system entry above it shows the following:
In the screen above I noticed the following:
Could someone from Sony, please, clarify this?
http://battery.rootuninstaller.com/app?pkg=com.sonyericsson.illumination.service
above is a report about the battery consumption of the illumination service on some devices, on ION is quite huge...
Thanks for the information.
Is there a way to disable (or reconfigure) the illumination service?
Please, advise.
I think no way to disable without root.
Now I've tried a batsave app, and works fine, similar to Enhanced Standby mode (sxp). It is called Greenpower.

- The Keep awake value is very (6h 38m 40s out of 16h 26m 5s).
- There are two Sony processes (com.sonyericsson.illumination.service, com.sonyericsson.newsoftwarechecker) which are part of the Android System (???)
Could someone from Sony, please, clarify this?
Im not sure what you are expecting but over 16 hours standby given your usage is more than respectable, you are not going to pull a magic rabbit out of a hat and suddenly get 3 days standby with use. The XS has a fairly weedy battery with a high resolution screen and a not the most power efficent processor.
I completely disagree with you MrBelter.
What you see above is something which is seen on a good day.
The phone rarely lasts for 16 hours (I don't usually let it get to 3% and charge it whenever possible).
Furthermore, the phone requires a restart at least once a day because after some point the battery drain is increased (and according to the above and to other posts in this forum) because of the Android System is misusing the battery.
So, in other words there seems to be issue with the Android System on the Xperia S device (specifically for ICS 4.0.4) which affects the battery's performance.
For example, the phone has been idle for 2 hours (and was charged after for ~30 minutes during the time a GPS software was on) and still the Android System used most of the time instead of the Phone idle:
Am I missing something?
I bought sony xperia sl 3 days back, and it's battery behaving weird since 1st day. The moment I onnected it using PC companion, it recommended me to upgrade from .45 to .55. Now, the battery
level varies 70% to 2% in 5 minutes, and even after charging for more than an hour, phone doesn't start sometimes. It's charging- discharging varies like anything and also creates the problem like - phone hanging, screen freezing and phone switching off automatically. I am not sure if there is problem with battery, or any software issue...Can anyone help?
Took my phone to an xperia service centre today..After connecting the phone, technician told me a new software update is available, and was told to leave the phone with him for update..Could not do it as i dont have another phone..When checked through PC Companion or Update Services in my laptop, both tell that the phone is upto date..Does this mean Sony Service Centres has access to a different software version which is not provided to customers publicly ? if someone from Sony reads this support forum, could you provide an insight into this ? Or did the technician
lied to me ?? Curious to know...
Current software info attached for ref..cud anyone tell me this is the latest one available with Sony as i am tired of researching this battery issue..Curse the moment I chose to upgrade software&firmware as everything was alright prior to that
I just updated to JB 4.1.2 Build 6.2.B.0.200 yesterday through PC companion. Before update, my Xperia S works well and battery can last about a day, but sadly after update, my battery now suddenly drain so fast and will go flat in less than 2 hours after charged.?????
Why this thing happen? Suppose new update will give you better performance. But what happened is the other way around.
Please help.
Can I revert back to the old version?
Does anyone from Sony read this thread? this is an obvious issue with the update, could someone from Sony Staff do something about it please?
