Sony xperia deleting messages while typing.

Typing out an email of message on a forum etc. If I switch between landscape and portrait it deletes what ever I was writing entirely.

Settings > apps > all > chrome > uninstall updates > try again.

Could you please elaborate on the issue? Is this happening on every application where you can enter text? Or just on one or two particular apps?

Thank you for reply. Just checked and its ok in messages WhatsApp and Facebook messenger etc. But on mail (using the pre installed mail box and not an app) and also some other apps such as Tapatalk.

Hi Tony,

I recently bought an Xperia M5 in Singapore,  it has a number of very weird characteristics.

When typing text messages, for no reason and at completely random times, it will completely delete the text as you type.

It sounds to me like the phone cannot keep up with the speed I type, which is odd because I am 58 years old and dont type fast at all.

The other thing it does is change the voume ..... either on speaker or when taking a call, the volume can reduce by about 50%, I have just installed an app this morning to try and bump up the volume.

The phone is only 3 months old, for the first 2 months the battery could be at 79% charge and for no reason, you pickup the phone and ite been completely shut down. The problem became ridiculous, where it would often do this at approx 19% charge, or alternatively 79% charge, fluctuating slightly.  I had to go buy a battery charger, the pocket type, soon as I put power to the phone, it would start up from scratch and proudly display the battery life ?  So for no reason it completely shuts down, the start button wouldnt work, nothing, no lights , nothing,  plug in a portable battery pack and away you go though ?

What I did recently was ditch the 3rd party chargers you can buy for USB to Micro USB .... and stick with the one supplied with the phone,  but I need 2 more, and cant seem to buy them anywhere. Sony Xperia model M5 I just found out is NEVER going to be sold in Australia ! ... probably explains why it cam with a UK plug and adapter.

The other item that is very annoying is when I make a call to someone the screen goes black ?  no red bar to end the call, everything is minimised to the top of the screen for some reason.  So ending a call, or tracking the time on a call is removed ..... so there must be a bug or something that causes the screen to be blacked out when on a call,  battery management maybe ? no idea

I love the phone for the camera only, which is why i moved from an Iphone to Xperia ..... in hindsight .... I regret it.

Can you shed some light on any or all of this please ?

Does what happen with a particular app ?

I use the app for sending messages, there is only 1 ?  i dont use apps of any sort that require text .......so I dont know.

Is this the app your talking about ?

Its the same app that has lag, if I type one message I get a circular orange disk outline that is obviously doing something in the background,  when you press the arrow for send it should be INSTANTANEOUS .....!!! every other phone on the market is ! and whats with the confusion between contacts when sending text messages ?

if I type a message to daughter 1 and swap to daughter 2 to send her a message, it will often overlay the message from the daughter 1 and send that to daughter 2 as well ???  what is going on here ?

I amcoming to the conclusion that this phone, the M5 is a total heap of rubbish,  so many faults with it, and they are all over the internet .... so WHY isnt Sony fixing them ? 

If you dont want to fix them then send me a new Z5 ( that better work ) and I will send you this piece of junk back.

Whatever happened to product testing ?  who got paid to test this product thats what I want to know.

You asked me ' Do I experience the same in safe mode" ....?

how would I know,  I bought it as a phone, I use it as a phone, I call people, send text messages and take photos ....

that is it !   why would I even think about 'safe mode' .....? thats for Sony to do not me,  you dont use your customers to do your bench testing of products.  Thats not my job, that belongs squarely at the feet of Sony.

Am giving it 7 days for Sony to give me something plausible I can work with ....... they have enough staff for chrissakes.

After 7 days from today ....  I will have this issue broadcast on national radio,   have never seen such a flawed product on the market being sold for high dollars by a multinational company like Sony. They should be ashamed of themselves.

ok mate, I booted into Safe mode,

i get a grey area on the screen with Launcher3 ??

Will test the texting though.
