Sony Ericsson Elm Slow

Hi, Can anybody explain why my Sony Ericsson Elm mobile phone is damn slow???. The mobile has been very slow in operating since i bought it. I bought it 3 months before and using it. Whenever i was using the internet, mobile camera, applications, games, text messages(Conversations), its been slow all the time. I thought the update may solve the problem, so i did the update, and after a while i realized its the same even i updated it. Many of people may say the reason to update the mobile, but i already tried it. Some will say that because of the memory card, i suppose the memory card would not be the problem, i used 2gb first and 4gb card after that. Since the Manufaturer itself told in the specs that the phone will support upto 16gb of memory card, i only used 4gb. God, this mobile is too slow that anyone could be frustrated. I'm very disappointed for this on sony ericsson. Also i wanna know, is that all the Elm mobile phones are slow by default or only i have this problem?

Since you've already tried the update service, you could also try formatting the memory card and see if that helps.Failing that, you could opt for a master reset.

I agree with Dr_Chris, I have supplied instructions below in regards to formating a memory stick and performing a master reset,

FORMAT MEMORY CARD

Main Menu > Organiser > File Manager> Options> Memory status> Memory Card > Options> Format mem. card

MASTER RESET

Main Menu > Settings > General > Master Reset > Reset All ( note: that this will remove all data from the handset but will not touch a SIM card or memory stick)

@Dr_Chris and @Jake-SEanswers , thanks for replying to my post. I'll try the suggestions you people gave and give some time to see if i can notice the changes.

Meanwhile can you give me some helpful tips for better usage of my handset?. That, to install and use the Games and Applications, what would you recommend, to install them in the memory card or the phone memory. I want my handset to be reliable, so can give good tips to handle it?

(Note : i don't mean to be rude guys, i'm just asking help)

Installing them in the memory card is probably better as you have more space.Where possible, it's also advisable to download these apps/games to the PC first and then transfer them to the phone; this way, you have a copy of the original .jar or .jad file in your phone, in case you need to re-install them.

Installing Apps in the memory card make them start slowly. i have tried installing both in phone & memory , when the are in phone they start faster & when you turn on the phone they load faster.

memory card is for photos , films & musics.  phone has about 230MB memory. it is enough for about 180 games & apps.

Hi, its been days since i got the first reply and i did the update software as suggested :smileyhappy:. Seems helping me, that phone is not that much slow nowadays. I don't know 😕 may be the previous software may have corrupted, and the software update i did is only "Repair" from pc suit companion as there's no updated software avail in market yet.

Now i've been installing the games and apps in the memory card(where the phone installs by default), consider i put about 10-15 of apps and 10-15 of games, not more than that. As Jangal thought, there's more memory 230mb in the phone and at first i was installing them only in the phone memory, thought it could be faster if i installed in phone, but at those times only my mobile got slow. Now after repairing the software and installing apps and games in memory card doesn't seems bad, the phone's is working good now. But we can't yet conclude that the phone got slow due to software corrupted or i installed games and apps in phone memory since there's no clear technical explain we have.

These kinda doubts could be cleared from the Tech members of Sony Ericsson itself.

Anyways thanks to everybody for the suggestions, and don't stop this thread as all the suggestions for the phone to work good and reliable are welcome to help others.

Thanks again everybody Slightly_smiling_Face

To be honest the likely cause of the problem based on what you have stated here was that the application were on the phone memory and not the memory card. A lack of internal phone memory will always have a negative impact on the general running speed of the phone. Glad to hear this has been sorted for you now.

As a matter of fact. I have more than 200 Mb of memory left on my Hazel phone memory. But still if I install my apps and games on the phone memory instead of memory card then my phone becomes slow. I have almost 100 apps & games installed. And my phone is running at a nice speed as it should. The limit for total apps & games is somewhere around 90-95. Below 90 the mobile runs at usual speed and anything above that would make the mobile slow. I have a total of 21 apps & games in phone memory and all others are installed on the memory card. Remember to always install the bare necessities on the phone memory.

Because even if you would have more than 200 Mb's left still the mobile would become slow.

I have a 8gb memory card. And firmware is R7CA064. Though it have signal problems but other than that it is fine. Always use the latest software update.

I think that all the software & firware files are installed on the phone memory so maybe that's why it becomes so slow as it might have to scan more files. Although it is a fault of the software itself. But, it makes sense to install all the apps & games in another drive other than your main drive on which the Operating system is installed. I hope it helps!!! Always add reps for the ones that you think was helpfull...
