Some SMS not being received after no signal

Recently a number of messages which have been sent when my phone is off or out of signal have never come through after the phone has regained signal. It seems to be particularly a problem with texts from iPhones but may not be exclusively those. A friend of mine has a sony xperia (not SP), is on a different network and has been experiencing the same problems. Most of the time messages come through from all platforms and networks.

I have tried:

-calling my network (EE) but they say that all seems good their end

-turning the phone off and on again

-I have never had an iPhone myself (so not the iMessage issue)

I am self employed and rely on the phone for work. The thought I could be missing out on jobs is rather alarming!

Any help would be appreciated.

You should get a brand new Micro SIM card

Are you using a third party messaging app?

are those messages pictures, audio, video (MMS)? if so, you will need a data plan, as MMS will go through data NOT WiFi.

I am not using a 3rd party messaging app and the messages I am missing are SMS. (Although on a side note, I often (but not always) do not recieve iphone MMS, just getting the "message not downloaded" notice).

I have been to EE today and they have replaced my sim card however I am not confident this will solve the problem as I was having the same issue a few months ago when I had a t-mobile sim and also my partner's mother is having this problem and is on O2. Makes me worry it is a phone problem.

I will give the new sim card a test but if anyone has any other ideas or has experienced the same issue themselves I'd be grateful to hear about it.

Thanks for that, I've had this number since before iphones existed but tried the site anyway and I don't have a number registered with imessage.

My partner has an iphone so going to try and test it tonight by sending messages when my network is disabled and see if I can force the problem.

I've changed the SIM and sent lots of test SMS from an iphone while my phone is off and they have all come through within a reasonable time once I turned it on. However I will keep testing as the problem has always been intermittent so hard to know if it has been solved or not.

I have experienced a similar problem with my Xperia SP today. I can call and text no worries, but I can't receive text messages. I have used my wife's iPhone but none of the texts I send from her phone come through. I did also lose my mobile data connection in the middle of the day today, but that has now come back. I have not received any text messages today.
I have tried:
Forcing the messages app to close and restarted my phone but this doesn't help.
I am yet to get into contact with my carrier.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately the problem has happened again.

I was sent two texts yesterday from someone using an iphone whilst my phone was briefly out of signal. When the signal returned only one of the texts came through within a few minutes but the second still has not arrived. The person has sent me messages since which have all come through fine.
