The x8 was my first ever android phone. I used to use custom roms on it and got a nice Sony themed gingerbread rom which was fast and the latest os back in the day. Then I remember when ics came along and I updated straight away to cm9. I know that cm11 kitkat is available for the x8. Long story short hop onto the xda developers forum and find x8 android development and you have your answer. I'm on an xperia t now and Sony has abandoned updates for it even though the phone came out in 2012 so it is certain you won't get any more updates. Best to go for custom roms
