I want to do a software repair for Kitkat but DO NOT want to update to Lollipop. Is this possible? When I run through the "repair my phone/tablet" option in PC Companion, everything suggests this WILL update the software to Lollipop. Is my only option a hard reset on the phone itself?
You have another option: Download the firmware as FTF file and flash it via Flashtool, same method if you downgrade:

An option, for sure, but I was hoping Sony still suported KitKat software repairs to make life easier. Or are we all now being funneled to the new version of Android that provides solutions you don't need for problems you never had?!
I'm afraid PC Companion can't download older versions of our software. When it downloads the firmware from our server it can only get the latest version so when you perform a software repair the phone will also be updated to the latest version.
Good to know. Thanks. I guess I'll try flashing the last version of KitKat.
