SMS Text Notification Volume Level

The volume level for text notifications is much lower than my ringtone.

As an experiment I set the same mp3 as the ringtone and text notification sound. This confirmed that the text notification I am receiving is significantly lower than my ringtone which is set to maximum.

How can I increase this volume level?

My firmware version is the stock initial o2 release: 17.1.A.2.55 I am unable to update to 17.1.A.2.69 or 17.1.1.A.0.402 yet.

Are any of you that are on the newer firmware versions experiencing this issue?

Unfortunately I can't see this being resolved in the most recent release as Sony have to first acknowledge there is an issue before they can fix it! Slightly_frowning_Face

I noticed that when you select the notification sound from the list , the volume is normal but when the same is reproduced at arrival of a text message the volume is halved.
I am very unhappy because I lose regular phone calls and text messages I'm thinking of sending back the phone.

My notifications are plenty loud enough. Of course, I have the ringer up to max and don't really want to turn it any lower, but at max I hear everything just fine.

Well all have our volume up to the max. Dizzy_Face

The problem is intermittent and does not appear to effect everyone. What firmware do you have?

I have the .55. I will admit that there have been times when I seemed to have missed a notification without reason. And when I first got the phone I thought everything was a bit quiet. My ringtone is actually a bit too loud now.

I would also like to add my voice to this. The ringtone and particularly the notification tone are so low that it's a joke. I hardly hear a message arrive with the phone in my hand. They're just fine in the menu for choosing the tones but they are ridiculous when they're actually needed. The alarm clock appears to be the same - so low it wouldn't wake an insomniac up. Needs a fix fairly pronto.
