SMS Text Notification Volume Level

SMS Text Notification Volume Level

The volume level for text notifications is much lower than my ringtone.

As an experiment I set the same mp3 as the ringtone and text notification sound. This confirmed that the text notification I am receiving is significantly lower than my ringtone which is set to maximum.

How can I increase this volume level?

I have the same problem. Played when set to normal size, but the sound of the standby mode is reduced to less than half.

I've had the phone 3 weeks with no notification volume problems before trying using headphones for the first time. Later on the notification volume started going up and down intermittantly. Wondering for a couple of days why the volume went up and down I tried plugging the headphones back in, then out again. ....And the volume was back up to full!!! So....maybe this is just an old-fashioned poor connection in the headphone socket???

Hi guys,

The SMS notification has it's own volume slider level, but it is not in the "Volume" section in settings. To fix this do the following...

1) Go to Messaging > Settings > Notification tone

2) Choose "Sound picker" if it gives you the option

3) Tap a sound and it will play and select it

Now, what you have to do is when you tap the sound and it is playing press the volume up key and you'll see a slider appear. Keep pressing the sound so that it plays and pressing the volume key up and your notifications will get to the volume you want. Mine are nice and loud now 🙂

Hope this helps!

TwiceNightly,

I followed your instructions but it doesnt work on mine. The slider is already at max on the sound picker. Ive tried this with GoSMS, google hangout amd the default messaging app. Its really frustrating, it also happens on my alarms.

Hrmmm my notifications are now ok. I created a smartconnect event then let it run. At start set sound to silent, volume to 0. On end set sound to normal, volume to high. Upon starting I ended the event by increasing the volume. After that i disabled the smart connect event then i got normal notification volume.

I've just got my Z2 on 3 network in the UK. I've tried the YouTube method and that doesn't do anything. What's the best tried and tested way to get the volumm up?

Same here, volume in general is low,

Starting with ringtone, followed by sms, or notifications in general,

Also tried to use several headsets, and sound is not there at all,

Bose QC20i with noise cancelling and volume is too low.....

Monster Inspiration Noise cancelling,, Volume is too low.....

Monster Turbine Pro Copper. Volume is too low......

Despite changing EQ, settings and why not, still remains the same....

It is not my hearing,

I own a Samsung S5, Note 3, Iphone 5S, and Ipad air, and done several tests,

Conlusion volume on Z2 is way too low,

C'mon Sony what is happening?, we want to give you a chance in the stock market....

I fixed my sms notification by installing a 3rd party sms app.TwiceNightly's method worked on gosms. In gosms ther is a test notification function. While.playing testing your notification hit the volume up button. Ypu will see the slider go up. On the default messenger this didn't work. As for music volume, check your smart connect events. I adjusted the events and now when i plug in my headphones its already set to my preferred volume. When my sms notification was fixed, my ringing volume got fixed too. Both my speakers now work when I'm getting a call.

I now know why sony won't acknowledge the soind problems. They aren't defective, just really hard to adjust. I hope they do something more user-friendly on the next update.
