SMS App conflict

Hi all,

I have a strange and annoying issue with SMS on my Z2.. I use Hangouts as my default SMS app, but sometimes messages from one specific contact come through on the non-default SMS app (in this case the normal 'Messaging' app that comes with the phone). The messages don't show up in both apps, so when I do get a text through to the wrong app, I don't get a notification.

Here is an example. You can see the conversation progression, and I chose to reply through Hangouts. At the end of the conversation, you can see the last message I received from that contact did actually go through to the correct app, though it appears to be a group message.

I have tried clearing defaults and resetting them, I've tried force closing both apps. I've tried uninstalling Hangouts and reinstalling, nothing is making a difference. It's been happening on and off since I got the phone in April.

Has anyone seen this before? Or can anyone shed light on what might be causing it?

Thanks

You might want to set hangouts as the default messaging app, and disable the messaging app.

I've seen this issue when I use multiple devices with my hangouts, so it seems that the issue is hangouts

Yeah as I said, Hangouts is already set as the default. I only found out about the issue because I had actually disabled the other app initially, and this contact asked why I wasn't responding to their messages. I have had to re-enable it just to make sure I receive everything that is sent. It's strange and infuriating that it's only for one contact though.

Does that friend has an iPhone?

Hi, what messaging app does your friend use......could be a problem at their end as it seems very strange this only happens with their message Thinking_Face

They use an HTC One I believe.

Could you ask them to maybe try a different messaging app even for a couple of tries just to see if it works, maybe ask them to try Hangouts, wondering if its perhaps a network issue from their end also Thinking_Face
